Message from Katsuyuki Oue

Acupuncture and herbal medicine should be understood as sharing a common theoretical foundation. From gathering information through the Four Diagnostic Methods to determining the appropriate shō (diagnostic pattern), the process is guided by the same principles and methodology. Treatment methods are then selected based on their distinct characteristics.

Keiraku Chiryo (Meridian Therapy), a form of traditional Japanese medicine, is a diagnostic and treatment method that directly addresses the essence of the pattern. My teacher, Masaichi Ikeda, dedicated his career to integrating herbal medicine into Meridian Therapy, both in theory and practice.

In this lecture, I will carefully explain the foundational theory of herbal prescriptions, step by step. It is designed to be a lasting reference for everyone—from beginners to advanced practitioners.

For those who already practice Meridian Therapy, this course will deepen your understanding of how to select Kampo formulas based on your regular diagnostic processes.
For those who are not familiar with Meridian Therapy, incorporating perspectives distinct from Traditional Chinese Medicine will help expand your understanding and increase your range of prescription options.

I hope you will take this opportunity to master the application of herbal medicine grounded in the theory of Meridian Therapy.
