Dear friends,

I hope you are doing well. It’s hard to believe that we are already half way into September! I wanted to give you some updates about the upcoming online seminar with Oue-sensei in November.

In this 2-day online seminar, Oue-sensei will be teaching the basics and applications of selecting Kanpo (herbal formula) prescriptions, with a focus on how to choose Kanpo formulas and differentiate between similar patterns.

Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine should be considered based on the same theory.
In the process of examination and diagnosis, from collecting information through the four diagnostic methods to determining the pattern, the same theory and methodology are used. For treatment, the most appropriate method is chosen by leveraging the respective characteristics of acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicine. However, even in treatment, the point selection, techniques, and formula prescriptions are made based on the same theory.

Meridian therapy, one of the traditional Japanese medical practices, is a diagnostic and therapeutic method that directly connects to the essence of the pattern. Particularly, my mentor, Masakazu Ikeda-sensei, has integrated the use of herbal medicine into meridian therapy.

This time, I will systematically explain the theory of herbal medicine from the basics. I aim to make it a comprehensive guide for everyone, from beginners to advanced practitioners.

For those practicing meridian therapy, this will deepen their understanding of the prescriptions of herbal formulas. Even for those not incorporating meridian therapy, adopting a different perspective from traditional Chinese medicine will broaden the scope of prescription choices.

I hope you take this opportunity to master the theory of herbal medicine application based on meridian therapy principles.
